Relaxation, or Swedish Massage, is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved skin appearance, and greater flexibility. Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session. Also keep in mind deep tissue does not mean extreme pressure depth the entirety of the massage, but rather pinpointed in specifically a couple areas of tension and tissue bind.
Movement education uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. In this session we will go through a consultation on what you would like to improve, for example.. increased overall flexibility, greater range of motion for a previously injured area, or maybe you are just curious about how to bring yoga into your life, and aren't comfortable doing this in a public class setting. This practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement. I will teach useful yoga poses for your unique situation and proper alignment, and help you learn poses for daily stretching. This ideally would be done prior to the massage to warm up the tissue. *If you are experiencing hardship, please ask for my income-sliding-scale rates.
Experience the delight of smell and what it brings to the experience of massage. Sensory integration can be ultra relaxing. Scent can influence mood during the massage session. Please check back for specific blends offered.

For the ultimate experience in relaxation, you will enjoy a guided meditation for approximately 15-20 minutes preceding the massage service while laying on the heated massage table. This may include pranayama (breathing) techniques, imagery & visualization, body awareness exercises, and/or light musical instrument accompaniment. The meditation will soothe the nervous system & allow your body to ease into your own inner world from the sometimes chaotic outer world you just came from, fully receiving the benefits of prana massage. When prana is flowing more easily throughout the body, you just simply feel better. The goal will not be for the mind to fall asleep, but rather to keep the mind awake while calming racing thoughts. A bell will sound to ease you into the transition of massage. The total service time (meditation +massage) is one hour & 30 minutes. This is ideal for high stress clients that would like to learn more about meditation and are open to learning self-calming techniques. As always, heat and/or pressure can be adjusted.
